Barndominium
Client: Retired Home Owner
Location: East Jordan, MI
This project began at the outset of a pole barn construction for a retirement home, with a focus on maximizing every square foot and aligning the design with the client’s lifestyle and needs.
Client’s Requests:
-A primary Suite with a large shower
-A guest room for his grandchildren
- Open concept kitchen and living area
-A covered porch
-Windows that take advantage of countryside views
-A dog washing station
-Large garage for pick-up truck and “projects”
To take full advantage of the site’s natural beauty, the kitchen and living areas were positioned along the north side of the home, optimizing countryside views and access to the covered porch. Expansive windows bring in abundant natural light to these main living areas. The primary suite was designed to be both spacious and efficient, while a compact bunk room for grandchildren preserves valuable square footage. A mudroom located off the garage doubles as a laundry area and includes a custom dog bathing station. The remaining square footage was allocated to a generously sized garage, accommodating two full-size trucks along with additional space for tools, hobbies, and storage.
All project requirements were met, with a comprehensive set of construction documents delivered to support the successful completion of the home.
