Small Living Room Challenge
Client: Retired Home Owners
Location: Hampton Roads, VA
This project focused on thoughtfully arranging furnishings within a small, challenging living room. With the fixed placement of the fireplace, limited room depth, and necessary clearance around the kitchen island, the layout presented several constraints
Client's Requests:
-Willing to replace all furniture except her
husband’s favorite chair
-Did not need barstools at the kitchen island
-Needed easy access to their deck through
sliding glass doors.
The layout prioritized incorporating the husband’s chair while keeping it within comfortable view of the TV. Different furniture arrangements were explored to balance function and flow. A compact sofa with a chaise and a smaller coffee table were recommended to maintain clear pathways, while an arched floor lamp and round side table add both function and style.
Through the Space Planning Service, two furniture plans were provided. The client selected the preferred option and was given ideal furniture dimensions to guide their selections.
